God created you for a purpose! You were made to make a contribution, not just to consume. God made you to make a difference, not just sit on the sidelines. What matters most is how you live, not how long you live. We’re all made to make a contribution. Ultimately, we are shaped to serve with our unique spiritual gifts, heart, abilities, personality, and experiences. God created us to do good works. We live in a world that needs to see the love of Christ now more than ever. Today we are going to show the love of Christ to our communities by serving them with no strings attached. Right now there are hundreds of people from Freshwater doing projects around the community just like you are. Together we are making a difference by doing tangible acts of service.
Serving others is evidence of an authentic faith. Jesus speaks volumes about the importance of being a servant in the Gospels because he came as a servant. When you serve others, you reflect the love of Christ. You were created to be like Christ, and what did Christ do while He was here on earth? He served. In Mathew 20:28 Jesus said, “Your attitude must be like my own, for I did not come to be served, but to serve.” And Luke records Jesus saying: “For who is greater, the one who is at the table or the one who serves? Is it not the one who is at the table? But I am among you as one who serves.” -Jesus, Luke 22:27 NIV Jesus chose to serve other people to show them the Kingdom of God in a tangible way. When they were hurting, he put his arm around them and healed them. When they were hungry, he fed them. He never chose to overlook someone because of his busy schedule. He always delivered love and grace to people in ways that they could understand. We want to do the same. The Apostle Paul understood that when he served others, he was serving Jesus. He conveyed this spiritual truth to the Colossian church writing: “23 Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, 24 since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.” Colossians 3:23-24. Today we are turning our faith into action in order to be the church to our community. It’s time to serve the Lord by serving others. Thank you for stepping up and making a difference. What we are doing will help an unbelieving world see the incredible living God through the actions of His people. Thank you for boldly being the church to our communities. May God bless your faithfulness and efforts today. In Christ, Pastor John Click HERE to register for Sunday 2 Serve!
